In this Mr. Marsigit’s paper explain about learning mathematics with calculator as a helping machine. As a helping machine, calculator has a role to help the students when they have difficulties. The puroposed of this research is to identify the using of graph calculator in mathematics learning process and to know the student’s respon in using graph calculator in mathematics learning. The goal that wanted to be achieved is to understand the teacher’s and student’s activity in mathematics learning process.  This research using qualitative approach. And the rearch is done in SMK Muhammadiyah IV Yogyakarta.

In advanced country, calculator has an important role. This is showed by using calculator since elementary school, high school, until college university. The means of calculator is to bridge arithmatics and algebra (Tenoch E. Cedillo ; 2002:1). There are two kinds of calculator. Usual calculator and scientitic calculator. Scientific calculator can solve the problems of mathematics that are very complicated. The price of scientific calculator of course is expensive enough compared with usual calculator, this is the problem in developed country. One of the example of scientific calculator is This paper focused on using calculator by Texas Instrument TI 89 Calculator that would be focused in this paper.

Texas Instrument TI 89 Calculator can help students with many complex problem of mathematics such as algebra, arithmatics, liniear equations system, and others. The problem of students is to changed mathematical language into calculator language and to express the meaning of this view. However this calculator has an important role because students can doing the problems of mathematics manually then using calculator to know the truth (if the answer is the same and the procedure in entering the problems in  calculator is right, so the answer of student is right too.
