This writing is about understanding rational number and the kinds of its with mathematics realistic education. The competency standard is students can understand, and do the operation of rational number in the solving problems. And the basic competence is student can know the rational number and solve the problems. The indicator of the achievement are student get many kinds of simple rational numbers and students can change the kinds of rational numbers.

As an example:I have 1 ¾ apples. How many and how can I change into ordinary rational numbers? Well, to solve the problem, prepare scissors, rule, and pencil. Then draw 2 circles to show 2 apples. Then divide each circle into 4 parts to show that each apple divide into 4 parts. From the picture, we make a shading in whole of the circle that sign they are 1. Then we make a shading 3 from 4 in the second circle that sign that they are ¾. Then we calculate the sum of shading pieces. We get 7, so they are 7/4 and the ordinary rational numbers is 7/4.

So, from the example we can make the rational number into realistic mathematics. The rational numbers can be express in many kinds of type. Students must know about it and the relationship between the rational numbers.
